What people are able to connect Messenger to a website? In order to maintain constant contact with customers, there is an option to connect a chat to a website. One of such chats is Messenger, which can be connected through Google Tag Manager. This option is only available to owners of a Facebook Business account and those who have a company page on Facebook.
To connect Messenger to your website, you need to follow these steps:
- Log in to Facebook (the one where you have the company website connected to, to which you want to connect Messenger).
- Locate and select the button with the orange flag "Pages" on the left side of the screen.
- Select the page (if you have more than one) to which you want to connect Messenger by clicking on it.
- On the left side, locate and select the functional button with the gear icon - 'Settings'.
- Also on the left side, click on the functional button with the cloud icon - 'Messages'.
The next step is to select the functional button 'Get Started' in the center of the screen, like this:
As soon as you click the 'Get Started' button, a new browser tab will open. From now on, for a while, you will work in this tab - Facebook Business Suite.
Select the functional button (the blue one) 'Set Up', and then follow the individual steps:
- Set language
- Provide the domain name (the domain you have on the website created in our Calendesk creator)
- Copy the code that will need to be pasted in the appropriate location on the Google Tag Manager platform (we will show you where to paste it). It is recommended to save this code in an external file, such as Notepad.
After clicking the "Finish" button in the fourth step, you will see the following message:
"Your chat plugin is ready! At any time, you can make changes to your chat plugin by going to the chat plugin in the Company Inbox section."
Confirm it by clicking the "Done" button and open the Google Tag Manager page in your browser. On this page, select the blue "Start for free" functional button. After selecting this button, a new tab - Tag Manager will automatically open for you.
